Linda Ronstadt was the first female star of popular music to achieve a long string of platinum albums. Although today such sales are commonplace, Linda was the first female performer to have 4 consecutive platinum albums. Born on 7/15/1946 in Tucson, Arizona. Pop-rock singer. Formed The Stone Poneys with Bobby Kimmel (guitar) and Ken Edwards (keyboards), Went solo in 1968. In 1971 formed backing band with Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Randy Meisner and Bernie Leadon (later became the Eagles). Appeared in the 1978 movie FM. Acted in the Broadway and movie versions of The Pirates of Penzance.
